So you want to play Dungeons & Dragons online but you don't know how?!

Here's Quests For All's Getting Started Guide:

There are 3 major things you need to get started playing Dungeons & Dragons Online with Quests For All.

1. A Laptop or Personal Computer (with an internet connection!), it may seem obvious but you'll need a device, connected to the internet, to run all of the systems we use to play Dungeons & Dragons. Although you may be able to use a tablet or smart phone, we don't recommend it, as it does not provide the best use experience!

2. A Roll20 Account; you'll need to set up a free account on the site we use to host our Virtual Tabletop - A virtual battle map, character tokens, monster tokens, non-player character tokens and dynamic lighting to improve immersion!

3. A DndBeyond Account; you can't play Dungeons & Dragons without a character, so we go straight to the source and use Dndbeyond virtual character sheets hosted in our campaigns. Their system is intuitive and easy to use plus we're able to share all of our resources with you, the player!

Why Roll20?

Virtual Tabletop: Roll20 simulates a physical tabletop, allowing players to interact with the game world digitally.

Browser-Based: No software downloads are required; Roll20 runs directly in your web browser.

Dice Rolling: Roll20 provides automated dice rolling with customizable dice and modifiers.

Shared Maps: Players can visualise the game world through shared maps with tokens representing characters and objects.

Additional features: Roll20 offers features like dynamic lighting, custom tokens, and sound effects to enhance the gaming experience.

Why DndBeyond?

D&D Beyond is a digital toolset and game companion for Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) fifth edition. It's essentially a website and app that provides digital versions of D&D books, character creation tools, encounter builders, a virtual tabletop, and a community for sharing content and ideas.

Digital Compendium: Host and share official D&D rulebooks, adventures, and other materials.

Browser-Based: No software downloads are required; DnDBeyond runs directly in your web browser.

Character Builder: Allows players to create and manage characters, with automatic calculations and rule checks.

Homebrew Content: Allows players to create and share their own content, such as new races, classes, and items.

Available App: Access, manage and customise your content & characters in the DnDBeyond App.

But how do we communicate I hear you ask?

Well at Quests For All we offer a host of different options to suit each individual and group:

At Quests For All we generally use 3 different communication services depending on the group needs.

1. Facebook Messenger - Yes, it's really that simple, we can create a group chat including all of the players and the Games Master so you can discuss the game between sessions and join the Video Call when the game starts (usually 5 minuets before just to  test everything).

2. Discord - A community based channel server where you can join games, communicate with other players & Game Masters. Just Jump in the Voice chat when the game starts (again 5 minutesinuets before).

3. Whatsapp - This is a little tougher as each player will need to have access to a mobile phone and be comfortable having their phone number shared with the group of players.

Why Facebook Messenger?

Servers: Discord's core concept is servers, which are virtual communities where users can interact.
